Automated External Defibrillators (AED) Save Lives

In November 2018, an A&B employee working on a jobsite in North Dakota received a call from a client, located a short distance away at a separate jobsite, notifying him of an emergency that had just occurred. The client contacted the A&B employee as he knew that the A&B crew had an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on their jobsite and unfortunately, an individual at the client’s jobsite had collapsed and was in cardiac arrest.

The A&B employee quickly determined that there was another A&B crew working in closer proximity to where the emergency had happened and immediately contacted a fellow co-worker that he knew was a part of that crew. That individual immediately packed the AED kit and proceeded to the emergency location and further assist. Upon arriving, the A&B employee prepared and deployed the AED to the person in cardiac arrest. Both the AED and the kit’s CPR breathing mask were required to be used and fortunately the individual’s heart returned to regular beating and he began breathing.

Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter and transported the individual to the local hospital for further assessment and treatment. We are so very proud of these A&B employees – they demonstrated the utmost commitment to the safety of others, their workplaces and themselves.
