We observe #NationalDayforTruthandReconciliation and #OrangeShirtDay, a solemn occasion to acknowledge the profound impacts of residential schools on individuals, families, and entire communities. Recognizing this painful history and its lasting effects is essential for the reconciliation journey. We reconfirm our dedication to fostering meaningful connections with Indigenous people and supporting initiatives that create social and economic opportunities within these communities.

The 2024 World Suicide Prevention Day theme is “Change the Narrative,” a powerful call to action urging us to “Start the Conversation” about suicide and mental health.

Mental health is a complex issue, often shrouded in stigma and misunderstanding. Transforming the way we perceive and address suicide can create an environment where individuals feel safe to speak up, seek help, and support one another.

Together, we can make a difference in countless lives.

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of supporting the 4th Annual River Cree Indian Relay Cup, hosted by the Enoch Cree Nation and River Cree Resort & Casino.

We contributed to this fantastic event by donating six youth bicycles, which were awarded as prizes, and 12 backpacks for the back-to-school season. Seeing the community come together and celebrate such a vibrant tradition was inspiring.

A big thank you to everyone who participated and made this event memorable.

While many will enjoy the beauty of nature and our mountains during this last long weekend of summer, we remember the many communities impacted by the wildfire season, especially the beautiful town of Jasper, AB.

The Canadian Red Cross is distributing $750 in one-time financial assistance per household for people living in Jasper during the evacuation. This financial assistance is made possible thanks to the generosity of people who have contributed to the Canadian Red Cross 2024 Alberta Wildfires Appeal.

As summer winds down and students gear up for a new school year, we remind everyone to prioritize safety.

There will be more activity on rural roads, in residential areas, and on streets around schools. Remember to slow down in school zones, stop for school buses with flashing lights, and yield to pedestrians at crosswalks.

Wishing everyone a safe and productive school year ahead! 📚✏️
